All on 4 implants are quickly becoming one of the most popular full-mouth restoration techniques as patients realize the benefits of the procedure. A quick review, All on 4 is a method that allows an entire mouth’s worth of artificial teeth to be administered in just one appointment. It a great advantage for patients that need extensive oral work and serves as a viable alternative to dentures, for example. And unlike treating each tooth individually with an implant, All on 4 uses just four total implants to restore a full mouth with permanent, artificial teeth. See our case study on how effective All on 4 dental implants can work.
While All on 4 is still a fairly new practice, many patients still have questions about the procedure. One of the most common things patients inquire about is just how stable and durable the implants are after they've been administered. Let’s take a closer look.
All on 4 Implants: A Durable Solution
How durable are All on 4 implants? They're very durable, and here's why: Unlike dentures, All on 4 implants are permanently embedded into the jawbone. This allows them to achieve a high level of strength and stability. Even though All on 4 dental implants consist of an artificial solution, the fact that they are embedded into the jawbone allows them to function like real teeth when it comes to durability. Due to this, patients that undergo the All on 4 procedure need to have adequate gum tissue and bone density in order to properly support the implants.
There is another factor that will impact the long-term success of All on 4, your oral care routine. For instance, because All on 4 implants look and feel like real teeth, they also need to be cared for like real teeth in order to continue to have the strength and stability they're designed to offer. This oral care routine should include:
- Brushing at least twice per day and flossing at least once per day, per dentist recommendations.
- Visiting the dentist at least once every six months for a professional teeth cleaning and checkup.
- Properly and adequately treating any dental issues before they're able to impact the quality of the All on 4 implants.
As we noted earlier, not everyone is an ideal candidate for All on 4 implants. Minimally, an individual has to be in good health and have adequate bone density and gum tissue for the end result to be effective. Arguably just as important, however, is a commitment to caring for the implants after they've been administered. All of these factors help ensure All on 4 implants remain a durable, stable dental solution.
